Well, it took me a few months, but I finally went to my first class on the German longsword. I've never done any martial arts before, let alone sports in general, so I felt pretty intimidated. But it was freaking awesome. I'm not sure when I'll be able to afford my own equipment, but I definitely intend to keep going back.

Yes, Jeremiah Smith is the instructor. I've been to the class three times now and have been really enjoying it. I still feel pretty awkward, but at least I'm getting the basic guards and cuts down.

Ah man, this summer has been way too busy. I just saw this. It's definitely a small world! I will tell him you said hello at next Tuesday at practice.

I missed practice this week due to car troubles, but Jonathan Ying from another branch of True Edge Academy posted this video of Fechtshule America, and I caught a couple glimpses of you. It also shows a brief shot of Miah, and I recognize the winner as a guy from your club. I thought you might want to check it out.

Ah yeah, cool video, that guy knows what he's doing. I think I saw him filming.

I actually won that fight, though I lost the exchange they showed. It my third to last quarter finals-fight, my opponent was Nathan Grepares, who was the top American fighter last year (he came in 2nd place in 2011, defeating Axel Petterson of GHFS Sweden but in turn losing to Axel's team-mate Anders Linnard. )

After beating Nathan I beat Ben Jarishaw (though much to my annoyance, there is apparently no video of that fight) and then lost to Ben Floyd, taking 3rd place in the tournament overall. Ben Floyd is the guy who lost at the end of the video. The guy who won was Eric Wiggins who is in the Baton Rouge group, which is kind of a sister group for us, which is why we were carrying him on our shoulders at the end of your friends short film.
