Thought you might like this, in case you don't know, Katori Shinto Ryu is a very accurate school, as it dates back to the Sengoku Jidai, and not the Edo era.

It appears to me that the naginata has about a foot and a half-length blade.

Yeah, interesting I thought it was actually a bit less than that. How about a yari?

On a side note, I don't believe a glave should have any grapple bonus, judging by those images.

Well, the Glaive in the Codex is a Glaive Guisarme, (also very common) type which have some kind of back-hook, like these.

Or the ones depicted in "Weapons of the Ancient World, part 1" which are both antiques, with slightly less ornate back-hooks.

You will note that even in that group in the photos I posted, the one on the left has a prominent cross-bar (like a hewing spear, which I also give a grapple bonus to) and the one on the far right has some kind of feature as well near the haft.

I will change my naginata to do d12 damage.

It seems reasonable, I'm frankly not convinced yet about it's purpose. The video you linked does seem to show some (weapon vs. weapon) grappling. But I need to do some more research. I'm going to hound my JSA friends a bit more about this.

I didn't really see anymore weapon grappling than you can do with any weapon.
