Flecthed javelin

I was trying to stat this in the codex, but I am not sure quite how to. I think it will make one of the javelin's worthless though. Since I was going to make it just like a normal javelin, but more accurate. Thus eliminating the need for darts.

Darts also seem to have exceptionally good range, especially the plumbata type. I think a vaned javelin would just be like a larger plumbata, it's ok if it's better than some of the other types of javelins, not all weapons are created equal. Darts (I think) at least the well made ones, would still have the range advantage.

Vaned javelins were widely in use by the way, they show up in artwork in Ireland and some other places from as late as the 16th Century. I wish I could remember the name of this one painting there is one which shows some very clearly.

So how about spear damage, size, and ap, with javelin range? Or do you want a javelin with dart range?

I don't know for sure, but I think vaned javelins have slightly less range than vaned darts like plumbata, simply due to air resistence. This is just a guess though.

Damage would be more than a dart but less than most javelins, because I think these things tended to be made very light. So a regular dart is 1-2 damage, a plumbata is 1-3 damage, I'd make a vaned javelin 1-4, 30' range increment, 150' max range. Attack type P, Str Bonus (Y), plunging shot yes.

All just a guess though, if you could find some actual stats somewhere or a test that would be great. I think there was a guy on youtube who was doing tests.

For my game I already changed darts to 1-4. So that slot is not open. If they are lght weight, they are at least the same size a javelin, which is also meant to be thrown.

Well in that case, your range of difference is a bit less, but you can give it D6 damage but differentiate it from a 'regular' javelin by giving it less Armor Piercing bonus, either 0 (like a light javelin) or +1 (like a half-spear).

A regular javelin gets a +2 AP.

So this would make it better all around than a 'light' javelin, but slightly inferior in terms of 'punch' than a regular javelin, and significantly so than say a pilum type heavy javelin; but conversely it has better range and accuracy.

my mistake, my dart is just like a javelin but with less ap and more range, my plumbata is 1-4. I thought your dart was also 1-6?

Why would a regular dart do more damage than a plumbata?

I thought I was simply coping your list. Ok, I get it now, I renamed the light javelin a dart, so a light javelin has more punch than a plumbata. Also I changed the plumbata to 1-4, with no ap
