Most powerful weapon in the game?

Postby drkguy3107 » Sun Apr 10, 2011 5:41 pm

Clearly its the horse and rider. This is a double pun. Last night I had 3 knights versus an ogre. Galloglaich knows about my ogres but for those that don't there viewtopic.php?f=17&t=432

So one of my players was playing the ogre. Me(dm) and two other players were knights. In my world ogres are the reason for the creation of the knight. So using the codex rules here is what happened

Ogre went first, my ogre has six die and fierce attack so he was able to launch a barrage of large stones which do 1-10+7(str). He was able to almost kill player 1's destrier, dropping him for 30 to 1 hp. Then on my turn I charge the diceless ogre and did a 3 dice hvy. lance forced critical which was easy because his defense is crap and his natural armour is almost completely negated by the lances ap. I roll 1-8, add horses strength (4) then multiply by 3 (spirited charge) then add 3d6 for critical, drop the ogre from 62 to 30 something.

Then player 2 charges, same thing, ogre now will take 2hp dmg for bleeding out through the embedded lance heads, but now me and player 2 have no lances since they shattered. Player 1, having spent almost all dice trying to get his horse to dodge pusses out and just rides toward where player 2 is.

round 2. Ogre charges player 1
Ogre "can I pick up the horse and rider?"
me: "umm, so your like the height of an over pass and were like 7' tall on top of the horses so its like tossing a dwart.... ok grapple check."
ogre tries slam attack to grap the horse with 1 die, player 1 rolls 1 die to make his horse back up and avoid, success for player 1. PLayer 1 decides to use counter stroke and puts all 3 dice into a thrust with his lance, forcing critical, success. Ogre now has 16 hp will lose 3 hp a round.

Ogre, using fierce attack has 6 left (6+1-1=6) and then attempts to grab again. Ogre makes contact, now ogre uses grapple check to pick up horse and rider, uses 1 die, success (player 1 is diceless) then says "can I throw the horse and rider at player 2?
Me: "uhh, yes, take .... I don't know -4 to your attack roll (its only like 20 ft away).
Ogre: success, player 1 and destrier are now flying at player 2.
Me: player2, are you going to active defense, you have a kyte shield?
*laughter*
P2: Uhhhh, what would happen if I do block?
Me: shield would take damage till it snapped and then the rest would smash you into the ground.
P2: I dodge!
rolls, gets more than what the shield added to his defense so I say that he dodged (succeeded by 1!).

P1 flys into the ground followed by his 1hp destrier.
P1: how much damage do I take?
me: uhhhm, ok, your falling from your horse...
P2: really, thats how much dmg he is taking?
me: shut up I don't have a damage for being tossed by an ogre and being hit by the horse you were on table. Uhhh, fall from horse, d6, going fast when falling from horse 2d6 instead, hitting ground with horse coming after you, 2d12+7 (str). Destrier is dead (and in pieces at -21 HP), P1 still alive (lol!!) and prone.

Still ogres turn with 4 dice
ogre: I am going to run over and trample P1!
*death of P1*
and now I'm going to charge over to P2, pick him off his horse and bear hug him to death!

Ogre runs over to P2 and attempts to grab
P2: Active defense, all my die, rolls 20!
me: automatic counter attack!
P2 I'm going to him him with my morning star!
rolls 20!
ogre: shit
ogre is dropped to -3 HP, as the left head is caved in by the morning star the left side goes limp like a stroke, and the whole body collapses, forcing the embedded lance heads deeper into the foul beasts body!!
